Gun violence is a pervasive and devastating force in the United States. In 2017 alone, 15,596 Americans lost their lives to gun homicide. But not all communities are impacted equally. Half of America’s gun homicides were concentrated in just 127 cities - even though they constitute only 25% of the nation’s population.

Out of the 127 cities - 6 of them - New York, Baltimore, Chicago, St. Louis, New Orleans, and Oakland account for 1.5% of the country’s population but sustain 26% of the country’s gun violence.

While these cities are often disparaged and illustrated as murder hotspots, little is done to shine the light on these communities’ efforts to affect change.

This documentary film will shine a bright light on the many heroes taking part doing something, giving something, and making a difference.

We'll go into each of the 6 cities most plagued by gun violence, and tell the stories of the teachers, parents, community organizers, activists, and neighbors serving as a force in their communities. We'll inspire viewers to act by demonstrating the impact these extraordinary groups  have had on the lives of those around them.
